Our Little Ones

Kaitlyn came to visit me this morning with her fat tummy sticking out of her almost too tight shirt with the little mouse sticking its head out of the pocket. By the time she left, there were a thousand kisses on her cheeks and little hands. She and her older brother are so loved beyond words. Later this evening, I watched the news about a three year old who was beaten and forced to drink alcohol by her mother. These stories make us angry. I become withdrawn and sad, usually I paint or write until the pain subsides.
A very wise nun said once that when you witness a mother or father getting angry at a child in public, don't yell at them. This often backfires on the child. She says instead, walk over to the parent and offer a kind word such as, "oh, you have your hands full, let me help. You have one of the hardest jobs around, keep up the good work!" The mood often suddenly changes for the better. We can only change the world one smile at a time. Our children are our most beautiful assets for a fabulous world, treat them kindly.

  1. You are so positive, which is one of the many things I love about you! Kind words produce much better results than do harsh comments.

  2. Thanks Cathy. Remember all those teachers who said you were awesome and to this day we still think about them!
